14-year-old Ira Jadhav, who is one of the three standby players for India in the upcoming U-19 Women’s World Cup, created history on Sunday (January 12) by becoming the first Indian women’s cricketer to score a triple century in a limited-overs match.
Ira remained unbeaten on 346 runs from 157 balls for Mumbai in the Women’s U-19 One Day Cup match played against Meghalaya at Alur Cricket Ground.
During her stay at the crease, Jadhav hammered 42 fours and 16 sixes and added 274 runs for the second wicket with captain Hurley Gala (116) and 186 runs for the third wicket with Diksha Pawar (39). Thanks to her super show with the bat, Mumbai managed to post a total of 563 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets in 50 overs.
The young cricketer from Mumbai, who went unsold in the Women’s Premier League 2025 auction last week, is the first Indian (man/woman) to score a triple century in a BCCI-organised limited-overs tournament.
In reply to the target of 564 runs, Meghalaya side could only manage to score 19 runs in 25.4 overs. For Mumbai, Jeeya Mandrawadkar and Yayati picked up three wickets each for 4 and 3 runs respectively and two opposition batters each were sent back to the pavilion by Ritika Yadav and Akshaya Shinde for 2 and 3 runs respectively.
