BCCI named 15-member squad for the three matches to be played in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai. The series starts on October 16
The BCCI has announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand.
Skipper Rohit Sharma leads the side and star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been named to take up the role of the deputy captain.
Bumrah has stood out with both his ability to make the ball talk and his resilient character to pull India from the depths time and again, and the decision to name him the vice-captain comes after the series against Bangladesh in which the side did not name a designated vice-captain.
Reports suggest that skipper Rohit could miss out on the first two Tests in Australia for personal reasons, and this poses a decision made with the seamer being able to slip in as a replacement for the batter if need be.
India’s Squad for the Three Tests against New Zealand:
Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep
Travelling Reserves: Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mayank Yadav and Prasidh Krishna
