Ahmedabad was nothing short of ‘paradise’ for Jasprit Bumrah this past weekend, as the Indian pacer shared his rejoice after attending popular music group Coldplay’s concert on Sunday.
Bumrah was in attendance with the thousands that gathered to experience a show of a lifetime, and the ace pacer took to Instagram to share a glimpse behind his time at the concert.
Infact, Coldplay’s lead Chris Martin dedicated and sang a special song to Indian Test vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, who was present at the Ahmedabad show on Sunday. The song was played for the one-lakh-plus audience at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with one camera capturing Bumrah’s reaction.
Videos of Bumrah’s wickets against England from the 2024 Test series at home were also played on the huge screens around the band. One clip, of the Indian pacer going through Ollie Pope’s defenses through a searing yorker, has been played at almost each of Cold Play’s shows in India.
“Jasprit, well, Jasprit, my beautiful brother,” the song went. “The best bowler in the whole of cricket; we do not enjoy, watching you destroy England; with wicket after wicket after wicket.”
As wholesome as it was, the Bumrah-Cold Play collab almost got into controversy last week on Saturday. In the band’s first show at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, Martin had joked about how Bumrah was standing ‘backstage’.
It became an issue because the bowler was reported to be resting because of the serious back injury he suffered in Australia. In the next show, Martin had to issue a clarification and an apology to the fans in attendance at the concert.
But, all things aside, the fact that the fast-bowler can now comfortably walk is a good sign for India, as he expected to be back in action in the third ODI against England on February 12, and is expected to lead the Indian bowling attack at the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in February.
