After seeing the Sunrisers Hyderabad in action in the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League, the former South African pacer, Dale Steyn has made a bold predictionA on when the fans can possibly witness a side crossing the historic 300-run mark in an innings.
This comes after SRH managed to score 286 runs in their opening game of the new season thanks to Ishan Kishan’s century, Travis Head’s fifty and cameos by Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen against the Rajasthan Royals at home.
Steyn in a post on his official handle on X (formerly known as Twitter) predicting that the 300-run mark could be surpassed on April 17.

As per the IPL schedule for the ongoing season, SRH is scheduled to take on the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The last time these two sides met at the same ground, MI came out on top with Suryakumar Yadav’s match-winning century taking the spotlight.
But when the two sides met in Hyderabad, it was a run-fest with SRH scoring 277 and MI responding with a valiant 246 in the second innings.
Both teams will be keen on going hard with the bat considering the batting-friendly conditions in Mumbai but it remains to be seen if Steyn’s predictions will come to fruition.
SRH began their campaign with a win over RR by 44 runs while MI suffered a defeat by four wickets against Chennai Super Kings in their respective opening games.
The Pat Cummins-led side will be back in action at home against Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants on March 27 (Thursday) where another high-scoring game could be on the cards. Meanwhile, MI will look to regroup as they prepare for their second game which is yet another away fixture against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans on March 29 (Saturday)
