Bangladesh lost their tournament opener against India by six wickets. The Black Caps whereas, registered a dominant win over the tournament’s hosts Pakistan. While both sides will eye a victory on Monday, the Kiwis will be heading into the fixture as the clear favourites.
Bangladesh batted first in their Group A fixture against India. The Tigers suffered early blows against India and were reduced to 35/5 at one stage.
The Bangladesh duo of Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali stepped up with a 154-run partnership to help their team reach a total of 228. An unbeaten century from Shubman Gill helped India secure a comfortable victory.
New Zealand began their Champions Trophy campaign with a 60-run win against Pakistan. Will Young and Tom Latham stole the show with solid displays with the willow, scoring a century apiece. The Kiwis posted 320/5.
Will O’Rourke combined with skipper Mitchell Santner to dismiss six Pakistan batters. Matt Henry, Nathan Smith and Michael Bracewell secured three more scalps to curb the hosts at 260.
