Bumrah’s availability will depend on impending scan results, says skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of IND vs ENG ODI series

As India sweats over the fitness of its pace ace Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the third ODI against England and the Champions Trophy, captain Rohit Sharma said that the team management will have more clarity once they receive the scan reports of the pacer.

“We are waiting for some updates on his scan, which are due to happen over the next few days. Once we get that scan report, we will have more clarity in terms of where he stands right now, and if he will be available for the last ODI,” Rohit said on Wednesday.

Bumrah is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where he underwent a few scans. There hasn’t been any official word on the extent of Bumrah’s injury ever since he did not come out to bowl in the second innings of the final Test against Australia in Sydney last month. While some reports claimed that Bumrah could miss out on the Champions Trophy, the national selectors kept him in the 15-member squad, even though his availability will be subject to fitness.

However, on Tuesday, the BCCI added spinner Varun Chakaravarthy to the squad for the England series, which had no mention of Bumrah, leading to questions over his availability.
