Delhi Capitals open their
2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign against Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam, nearly 2,000 kilometres away from the Arun Jaitley Stadium – their home ground. And the match sure will be an interesting one, not just for the high-voltage action on the field but for all the drama off it in the months leading to the 18th season of the world’s biggest T20 league.
DC and LSG, after all, have had an indirect exchange of sorts by signing KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant respectively.
Pant ended up becoming the most expensive player in IPL history after getting acquired by LSG for Rs 27 crore in the mega auction in November, and has since been appointed captain.
Rahul, who reportedly didn’t share the best of relations with Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka at the time of parting ways with the franchise, was bought by the Capitals for Rs 14 crore. The wicketkeeper-batter, however, has since turned down an offer to lead the franchise, resulting in all-rounder Axar Patel being named the new captain.
Rahul, meanwhile,
is unlikely to face his former franchise on Monday due to “personal” reasons.

Match 4 of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be taking place at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday, 24 March at 7.30 pm, with toss taking place 30 minutes before start of play.
