Devon Conway might have lost his place in New Zealand’s playing XI to Rachin Ravindra, but he is all set to start ahead of the 25-year-old star in the IPL 2025 for Chennai Super Kings. Conway, who has 924 runs to his name in 23 IPL matches played so far, missed the last season due to an injury, but despite that, CSK went after him in the IPL 2025 mega auction and secured his services for Rs 6.25 crore. The left-handed batter in all likelihood will open the innings for five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025 along with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Gaikwad topped the run scorers list for CSK in IPL 2024 but failed to help them qualify for the playoffs. This year he will look to complete the unfinished business and lead the Men in Yellow to a record-extending sixth IPL title.

In the mega auction, CSK signed former KKR and SRH batter Rahul Tripathi along with Deepak Hooda and Vijay Shankar, and the trio are likely to compete for the No. 3 batter position. Shivam Dube, after playing big roles with the bat in the last couple of seasons, will continue to bat at No. 4, followed by England star Sam Curran at No. 5. Curran, who is back in CSK after three years, has improved his batting a lot in the last couple of years and could be a very handy batter in the middle order.

Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, like always, will be the two designated finishers for CSK, and this time, CSK also managed to sign back Ravichandran Ashwin. The former Indian spinner will play for CSK for the first time since the 2015 season after securing a deal worth Rs 9.75 crore.

In the mega auction last year, CSK splashed Rs 10 crore to secure Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmed’s services, and in Chennai, he can be an x-factor for the franchise with his mystery spin.

In the absence of Deepak Chahar, who was signed for Rs 9.25 crore by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 mega auction, Matheesha Pathirana will lead the fast bowling attack and have left-handed pacer Khaleel Ahmed and former MI star Anshul Kamboj for support.

CSK’s probable playing XI for IPL 2025: Devon Conway, Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Rahul Tripathi, Shivam Dube Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmed, Khaleel Ahmed, Matheesha Pathirana

Impact players: Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary
