Ravindra Jadeja has arrived in Chennai after India’s title winning run at the Champions Trophy in Dubai. The allrounder took five wickets in as many matches and scored the winning runs in the final against New Zealand.
Jadeja’s wife Rivaba feels that the prayers of 140 crore Indians helped the Rohit Sharma-led side’s invincible run at the marquee event that concluded on Sunday.
“…It was all due to the wishes and prayers of the 140 crore Indians. They way our team combination (was), we were unbeatable throughout the tournament. All the players gave good performance. I hope the team will keep doing this in future,” Rivaba told news agency ANI.
Rivaba was present during the final of the Champions Trophy held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and later clicked a photo alongside Jadeja and the silverware.
“With the Champion,” Rivaba captioned the picture.
Jadeja will now start preparing for the IPL 2025 where he will be representing five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK will begin their campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at home.
India are now the most successful team in the history of Champions Trophy as they have won the title a record three times. They were the joint winners of the competition in 2000 as the final was washed out twice in a row due to rain before winning it in 2013.
Jadeja has now been part of India’s three ICC title triumphs including the 2024 T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy in 2013 and 2025.
There were speculations around Jadeja’s ODI retirement after India’s win but he put those to rest by requesting to not spread any “unnecessary rumours” via his official Instagram account.
Jadeja has played 204 ODIs so far and scored 2806 runs including 13 half-centuries. With his left-arm spin, he has pocketed 231 wickets including two five-wicket hauls.
