The question is being asked in the corridors of power whether Gambhir has been able to offer any solutions to Kohli, and after observing the situation, the answer seems to be a big no.

Ex-cricketer questions Gautam Gambhir’s coaching style
The year 2025 began with some concerning developments inside the Indian dressing room. After losing the Boxing Day Test to Australia by 184 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the team’s spirit was already down. Several media reports claimed a possible ‘chaotic incohesiveness’ in the team ahead of the final fixture in Sydney.
On Wednesday morning, an Indian Express report indicated that head coach Gautam Gambhir expressed anger following the loss in Melbourne, issuing stern directives to the team. Amid whispers of discontent in the dressing room, PTI reported that Gambhir appears to be out of sync with many players, highlighting problems with communication.

As per PTI, the question is being asked in the corridors of power whether Gambhir has been able to offer any solutions to Kohli, and after observing the situation, the answer seems to be a big no.
“Gautam, all his life, while playing in England and Australia, would dab the ball towards slip and gully. So, he knows exactly what Kohli’s problem is. He has seen that as a player (in 2014) and as a commentator and now as a coach. If he knows what is wrong, he should tell him,” the report quoted a ‘former India great’.
In the same context, the Indian Express report quoted the legendary Sunil Gavaskar as questioning the team’s current convoy of support staff.
“For batting… What is the role of Abhishek Nayar in the team? Is he a batting coach or an assistant coach? Gambhir has scored a lot more runs, so if he can step in and guide the players on how to bat and what approach is to be taken, we can probably perform better,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying by the daily.
