Jemimah Rodrigues notched up her maiden One Day International during India’s second ODI match against Ireland at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday.
The batter brought up her century in 90 balls by finding the boundary on the off-side. The very next ball, the 24-year-old tried to play a paddle shot but the ball caught the inside edge and went on to the stumps.
While she couldn’t send the ball over the boundary rope, she found it multiple times and scored 12 fours. Jemimah also forged a 183-run partnership with Hareel Deol, who scored 89 off 84 balls.
Before this, Jemimah had scored six half-centuries in the format.
This was also the second-fastest ton scored by an Indian woman in ODIs. Harmanpreet Kaur holds the record for the fastest.
Jemimah’s knock also helped India post the highest-ever total in Women’s ODI when the side racked up 370 runs on the board.
