India announces squad for Women’s Tri-Nation Series in Sri Lanka

The Indian Women’s Selection Committee announced the Indian squad that will face South Africa and Sri Lanka in the Senior Women’s Tri-National series set to commence on the 27th of April. The curtain raiser features India taking on Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which will also be the venue for all other fixtures in the tournament.

The Indian contingent will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana acting as Vice-Captain. India will play the rest of its games across 9 days, on the 29th of April against South Africa, followed by matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa on the 4th and 7th of May, respectively.

Kashvee Gautam, N Shree Charani and Shuchi Upadhyay were their maiden national call-ups in the overhauled ODI squad. The 21-year-old Kashvee picked up 11 wickets – the most by an Indian – in nine matches during the WPL 2025 season. Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Charani played only two games in the WPL for Delhi Capitals (DC), picking up four wickets. Left-arm spinner Shuchi was the third-highest wicket-taker at the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy held in December last year, snapping 18 wickets then at an economy rate of 3.48. Shuchi was named the Player of the Tournament with her team, Madhya Pradesh, winning the trophy.

The BCCI also clarified that Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu are injured and were not considered for selection while Shafali Verma continued to be snubbed from the set-up.
