Most Wickets in IPL 2025, Purple Cap: 23-year-old Ashwani Kumar from Mohali made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians on Monday (March 31) against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and picked up four wickets for 24 runs in three overs. He helped the Hardik Pandya-led side bowl KKR out for just 116 runs in 16.2 overs and secure a big win by 8 wickets in front of home fans.
His figures of 4/24, which is the best by an Indian bowler on IPL debut, helped him move to the No. 8 position in the list of leading wicket-takers in IPL 2025.
Apart from Ashwani, Deepak Chahar dismissed two KKR batters for 19 runs, and one wicket each was picked up by Vignesh Puthur, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult.
With four wickets to his name in two matches, Puthur is 11th on the list of leading wicket-takers in IPL 2025, and Deepak is in the 12th spot. The cricketer from Rajasthan also has dismissed four batters so far in IPL this year.
For KKR, Andre Russell picked up two wickets for 35 runs in 2.5 overs.

The 20-year-old cricketer from Afghanistan, who was signed for Rs 10 crore by CSK in the mega auction last year, has picked up nine wickets in three matches. He is followed by Mitchell Starc. The left-arm pacer from Australia is playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 and has dismissed eight batters in just two matches.
In DC’s IPL 2025 match played against SRH in Vizag on Sunday (March 30), Starc finished with figures of 5/35 in 3.4 overs.
CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed is in third place with 6 wickets, and LSG’s Shardul Thakur takes the No. 4 position with six wickets to his credit in two matches.
