Gujarat Titans Season Preview IPL 2025: After failing to qualify for IPL playoffs for the first time in three seasons last year, Gujarat Titans would like to make a fresh start in the new season of the Indian Premier League, which is set to go underway from March 22. Young Indian opening batter Shubman Gill will once again lead the franchise in the cash-rich league this year and will have Afghanistan legend Rashid Khan as his deputy.
The premier spinner was retained for Rs 18 crore by the Ahmedabad-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and he will be eager to live up to his reputation of being the biggest match winner in the shortest format of the game.
In the mega auction, GT signed former England white-ball captain Jos Buttler for Rs 15.75 crore, Mohammed Siraj for Rs 12.25 crore, Kagiso Rabada for Rs 10.75 crore and Prasidh Krishna for Rs 9.50 crore to strengthen the top-order and fast bowling attack.
In addition to them, they secured steal deals for Washington Sundar (Rs 3.20 crore), West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford (Rs 2.60 crore), South African pacer Gerald Coetzee (Rs 2.40 crore) and New Zealand star Glenn Phillips (Rs 2 crore).
GT have a fair mix of youth and experience in their squad for IPL 2025, and the Ahmedabad-based franchise would again be eager to rise up above the expectations and go all the way to become IPL champions for the second time.
The fans and franchise owners will have high expectations from Gill, Sudharsan and Rashid, who have done well for the team in the last three seasons, and Siraj will also be eager to leave his mark after losing his place in the Indian team.
How GT Fared In IPL 2024
Gujarat Giants failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs in the 2024 season. The Ahmedabad-based franchise won 5 out of 14 league stage matches played in IPL 2024 and, as a result of 12 points, finished 8th in the points table.
