With the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League looming inching closer to tee-off, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya expressed confidence in his side ahead of the curtain-raiser of the cash-rich T20 franchise league. The all-rounder, who played a crucial role in Team India’s success at the recently-concluded ICC Champions Trophy asserted that he would always back himself up, especially when leading the team.

“I’m very confident. I was confident back then. I was confident when I was playing in the Champions Trophy. I’m confident now. So if you ask me about my confidence, it’s always going to be high,” Hardik said.

The joint-most successful side in the history of the tournament, not only has an abundance of riches in terms of skill with the bat and the ball but are also spoilt for options in terms of leadership duties as Pandya serves as the captain of the side which includes Indian ODI and Test skipper Rohit Sharma and T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav and star seamer Jasprit Bumrah, who has also led the men in blue in the longest format of the game.

Pandya opined that having multiple minds working towards a common goal added to the strength of the team and was grateful for all the experience his fellow leadership unit members brought to the table.

“I’m lucky that I have three captains who are playing with me. So, yeah, it adds more and more experience for me that if I require help, I know that there are three different minds who have led India for different formats, and with so many years of experience, can be always there and they can put the arm around my shoulder and always be there for help. So I look at it that way,” Pandya added.

IPL 2025 kicks off with holders Kolktaka Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens on the 22nd of March before the double-header on Sunday between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals followed by the mouth-watering clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
