Pakistan faced India in the high-voltage Champions Trophy 2025 match on Sunday in Dubai. The Group A match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium was attended by thousands of Indian and Pakistani fans. During the match between the two arch-rivals, a Pakistani fan was spotted changing jerseys mid-match and donning India’s blue.
The clip of the Pakistani fan wearing the Indian men’s cricket team shirt in between loud cheers from Indian fans in the stands is now going viral on the internet.
Fans had high expectations of a close contest between India and Pakistan in Dubai, but they were left disappointed after the Pakistani team could only manage to post a total of 241 runs on the board for the loss of 10 wickets in 49.4 overs. For Pakistan, No. 3 batter Saud Shakeel scored 62 runs from 76 balls, and captain Mohammad Rizwan contributed 46 from 77 deliveries.
Kuldeep Yadav accounted for the dismissal of three Pakistani batters in his quota of nine overs, and two Pakistani batters were sent back to the pavilion by Hardik Pandya. Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Harshit Rana also picked up one wicket each.
In reply to the 242-run target, Rohit Sharma helped India get off to a flying start. The right-handed batter, with the help of two fours and one six, scored 20 runs from 15 balls. World No. 1 ODI batter Shubman Gill scored 46 runs from 52 balls, but the star of the night was Virat Kohli. The former India captain, who became the fastest batter in the world to score 14,000 runs in ODIs on Sunday, top-scored for India in the run chase and remained unbeaten on 100 runs from 111 balls. He added 114 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer (56) and helped India reach the target in 42.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.
The win over Pakistan helped India take a giant step towards qualification for the semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025. India will be guaranteed a place in the semifinal on Monday if New Zealand beat Bangladesh in match No. 6 of the Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
