involved in a spat with spectators during the third ODI against New Zealand on Saturday. Two fans were removed from the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui during the third ODI after they were involved in a heated altercation with Khushdil Shah.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have confirmed that Khushdil Shah was abused by the spectators, leading to an altercation.

With Pakistan losing the ODI series 3-0 after being thrashed 4-1 in the T20I series and a national team player getting involved in a spat with fans, the Pakistan cricket team is facing criticism from all comers.

Ahmad Shahzad slams Pakistan team after poor NZ tour

Former batter Ahmad Shahzad slammed Khushdil for losing control on the field and criticised the team for failing to channel their energy into their performances.

“There is no fight on the field but your players are fighting with the public, going to punch them. I can understand that sometimes fans do such things but you cannot control them,” Shahzad said.

“You have to stay in your bubble, as long as you are in the ground, you see things about yourself and your team. You leave the field with a positivity but your (Pakistan team) players are not venting their anger on the pitch where they had to vent it out, you are venting your anger on the people. This is absolutely wrong.”

Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has demanded the resignation of the selection committee after a disappointing tour of New Zealand.

“The selection committee should resign. They don’t know how to make teams. From the Champions Trophy until now, it has been a flop show. Even the tomato seller was asking why you didn’t include spinners in the Champions Trophy. Aqib should step down. If you stay for four months, you will lose against Bangladesh as well,” Basit said on his YouTube channel.

Pakistan cricket team has been having a tough time in international cricket lately. Before the poor tour of New Zealand, they finished last in their group in the Champions Trophy 2025.
