Shubman Gill was the silver lining in an otherwise meek batting display by Punjab as he notched up his 14th First-Class century against Karnataka on Saturday in their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match.
Gill got to the three-figure mark in 159 deliveries with 14 fours and three sixes. He had scored just four runs in the first innings.
This was Gill’s first century for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy in over five years, with his previous ton coming in December 2019 against Vidarbha.
The 25-year-old waged a lonely battle as Punjab trailed by 420 runs in the first innings. In the second innings. Gill saw himself falling short of partners. The next best score by a Punjab batter was 27 by Mayank Markande.
