A recent video shared by Mumbai Indians on social media revealed Rohit’s gloves with ‘SAR’ printed on them, prompting fans to guess its meaning.
Fans quickly concluded that ‘SAR’ represents Samaira, Ahaan, and Ritika – referring to Rohit’s daughter, son, and wife, respectively.
Rohit comes into the IPL on the back of leading the Indian team success in the 50-over Champions Trophy, becoming the first captain in international cricket to reach finals across all ICC events since taking over from Virat Kohli. India are currently the T20 World Cup champions as well.
His leadership has taken India to the finals of the World Test Championship, ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup, and Champions Trophy.
As Rohit approaches the latter stages of his T20 career, he has adopted a more aggressive batting style.
“When you look at the way that Rohit’s done it, have a look at the players that he’s had around him. He’s still had the foundations of a player that the team can bat around him. So it’s okay to walk out and swing from the hip and look to try and dominate and hit a lot of sixes from early in your innings. But you have to understand the dynamics of the team around that,” commented former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch on Rohit’s approach.
Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings without their key fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently recovering from an injury.
