Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended their decade long wait to beat Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Monday night with a narrow 12-run win in an IPL 2025 clash. Batting first, RCB racked up a mammoth 221/5 in 20 overs before restricting their hosts to 209/9 to secure their third win in four games.
The Rajat Patidar-led RCB have won all three of their away games so far this season with their only defeat coming in a home fixture. They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk and then MI at Wankhede Stadium.
In doing so, RCB have become the first team in IPL history since Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2012 to have beaten MI, CSK and KKR at their home venues in the same season.
MI, CSK and KKR are the three most successful franchises in IPL history having won 12 IPL trophies between them so far. MI and CSK have won IPL five times each while KKR thrice.
Of the eight franchises that have been part of IPL since its inaugural season in 2008, RCB along with Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are the only three teams yet to lift the trophy.
