The third edition of SA20, South Africa’s premier T20 tournament, runs from January 9 2025 to February 8 2025. Featuring top white-ball players like David Miller, Faf du Plessis, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, and Liam Livingstone, the tournament includes six IPL-linked teams: Durban’s Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
Dinesh Karthik will make history as the first Indian player to take part in the tournament, representing Paarl Royals.
Defending champion Sunrisers Eastern Cape, led by Aiden Markram, will face MI Cape Town in the opening match in Gqeberha. Sunrisers have won both previous editions.
Venues
The tournament will be held across six venues, with each team having a home ground: Newlands (MI Cape Town), Kingsmead (Durban’s Super Giants), Wanderers (Joburg Super Kings), Boland Park (Paarl Royals), Centurion (Pretoria Capitals), and St George’s Park (Sunrisers Eastern Cape).
Format
The month-long tournament will be held in a double round-robin format in the group stage, with the top four teams advancing to the play-offs.
February 4: Qualifier 1 – First vs Second
February 5: Eliminator – Third vs Fourth
February 6: Qualifier 2 – Loser of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Eliminator
February 8: Final – Winner of Qualifier 1 vs Winner of Qualifier 2
Timings
Match timings in the SA20 will vary slightly, with most matches starting at either 7:00 PM IST or 9:00 PM IST. There will also be a few double-headers, where the first match will begin at 4:30 PM IST, followed by the second at 9:00 PM IST.

The SA20 will be telecast live on the Star Sports 2 and Sports18 2 television channels. It will also be available to stream on the Disney+ Hotstar app and website.
