Indian all-rounder Shashank Singh, who was retained for Rs 5.5 crore by Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, has revealed the probable playing XI of the franchise for IPL 2025. According to the 33-year-old right-handed batting all-rounder from Chhattisgarh, who scored 354 runs in 14 matches of IPL 2024 for PBKS, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will open the innings for the franchise along with uncapped Indian batter Prabhsimran Singh.
Like Shashank, Prasbhsimran was also retained by the Punjab-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction for Rs 4 crore.
Shashank revealed PBKS’s probable playing XI during an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel.

Captain Shreyas Iyer is set to bat at No. 3, and Marcus Stoinis will come in at No. 4, followed by Glenn Maxwell at No. 5.
Iyer was signed for Rs 26.75 crore by the Preity Zinta-owned side in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, whereas the franchise secured the services of Stoinis and Maxwell for Rs 11 crore and Rs 4.20 crore, respectively.
Shashank himself will bat at No. 6 and Nehal Wadhera will play the finisher role at No. 7. South African all-rounder Marco Jansen, who secured a deal worth Rs 7 crore by PBKS, will bat at No. 8, and the other three players will be Harpreet Brar, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.
PBKS used the RTM card to sign Arshdeep for Rs 18 crore in the mega auction last year and splashed Rs 18 crore for securing Chahal’s services. The 34-year-old Indian spinner, who was part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024, is the all-time leading wicket-taker in IPL history.
The former Sunrisers Hyderabad star also picked two impact player options – Yash Thakur and Kuldeep Sen – for the team which will be coached by Ricky Ponting.
If Josh Inglis suffers injury, then Priyansh Arya could replace him in the playing XI as opening batter.
In addition to the players mentioned by Shashank, the PBKS squad includes the likes of Musheer Khan, Suryansh Shedge, Lockie Ferguson, Azmatullah Omarzai and Aaron Hardie.
