Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav named two changes in the Playing XI for the Men in Blue, bringing in wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel and local boy/spinner Washington Sundar to the side for their encounter against England in the second T20I in Chennai today.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first, trusting their bowlers to get the job done just like last time.

Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was set to be in action, was unfortunately ruled out at the last moment due to a picking up a side strain in practice which has ruled him out for the entirety of the T20I series.

In his place, all-rounder Shivam Dube comes back into the Indian side, after having made his last appearance for the Men in Blue in August 2024 in an ODI series against Sri Lanka, before missing the next T20I rubber against Bangladesh due to a back injury himself. But, he was not included in the playing XI for the second T20I today.

The injury woes did not stop there for India, as fiery batter Rinku Singh was also ruled out of the second and third T20Is of the ongoing five-match series against England due to a back spasm. Ramandeep Singh has been added to the ranks as the back-up for the lower-order hard-hitter.

Although the injury issues aren’t the most pressing for the Indians, the Men in Blue will continue to trod on, hoping to build on their impressive victory in the first T20I, where they demolished the visitors to seal a comfortable 7-wicket win.

Arshdeep Singh, who picked up the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award earlier today, will have his eyes set on attaining another milestone: becoming the first Indian bowler to scalp 100 international T20I wickets.
