A blinding catch by Victoria’s Campbell Kellaway in the WACA outfield in Australia, captured in grainy vision by streaming cameras, was more than one of the most eye-popping moments of the 2024-25 Sheffield Shield season.

It also caught the eyes of one legendary Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, who heaped praise on the Aussie, calling him ‘Superman’ and ‘Spiderman’ for his unprecedented catch.

Initially misjudging a Cameron Gannon hook shot at long-on, the 22-year-old Kellaway made a desperate dive to claim the chance in his outstretched right hand and in doing so, sealed Victoria’s 34-run win over Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield at the WACA on Tuesday.

The viral catch caught the eyes of Tendulkar as well, who took to X to express his utter shock and awe at the jaw-dropping catch, equating Kellaway to superheroes.

“Was it an audition for @SpiderMan or @Superman? This is truly a mind-boggling catch. Simply awesome,” wrote Tendulkar on his X post.

Kellaway’s catch was the cherry on top for the Aussie in a game in which he had carved out a superb and unbeaten 165 as well, all of which earned him a well-deserved Player of the Match award.

“I actually don’t think I have [seen a better catch] to be honest,” Victoria’s captain Will Sutherland said.

“With the filming, it still came up pretty well. It’s not the Big Bash cameras, but for him to take that catch into the sun as well, it’s a pretty incredible catch. Almost better than his 150.”
