India’s T20I wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson talked about how he wanted to see the legendary MS Dhoni play ‘thoda aur’ (little more) cricket in the coming years. The former Indian skipper continues to find the headlines despite having retired from international cricket with many speculating about his possible retirement coming up sooner rather than later.
But Samson, like most of the Indian cricket fans wants to see Dhoni play cricket for as long as possible. A video uploaded by PTI Videos shows Samson talking about how he wanted to see the former CSK captain play more cricket.
I was thinking in my mind and when people keep talking about ‘when is he retiring?’ In my head, I was thinking ‘Thoda aur bhi hai’. That’s the example that I had in mind. Everyone here I think if you ask them the same question, I think the Indian mentality is to get ‘thoda aur,’” he shared at an event.

Dhoni who continues to play for the Chennai Super Kings, has seen his role in the side being drastically reduced. From the start of the Indian Premier League, he began leading the Chennai-based franchise taking up a role as the wicketkeeper-batter who comes in the middle-order.
But as the years went by, Dhoni has taken to being the side’s specialist finisher while captaincy duties have been passed down to Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad. With Dhoni battling injury concerns in recent years, many expected the ODI World Cup-winning captain to possibly call time on his career. But he has yet to make the announcement anytime soon.
Coming to Sanju Samson, the Kerala-based player has found his place in the T20I setup being the opening batter alongside being India’s first-choice keeper in the shortest format. He had a stellar start in his recent stint but his form took a hit in the recently-concluded T20I home series against England.
He recently underwent surgery on his finger and will reportedly be set to make his return in the upcoming season of the IPL, leading the Rajasthan Royals once again. It remains to be seen if Samson will stick to opening the batting or reprise his role as the number three batter as seen with the franchise for quite some time.
