Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season is currently underway, with all 10 teams having completed their opening matches. With each game carrying crucial points, the competition for the top four spots remains intense. Teams will be looking to maintain consistency and improve their net run rate (NRR) to stay in contention for the playoffs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are at the top of the points table after securing a high-scoring victory against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Hyderabad. Their batting unit delivered a commanding performance, posting 286 runs in 20 overs, the highest total of this season so far, and winning by 44 runs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) began their campaign on a winning note, successfully chasing 174 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening game of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens. Their 7-wicket win propelled them to the second spot in the IPL 2025 standings.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) edged out Gujarat Titans (GT) by 11 runs in a thrilling contest in Ahmedabad, while Delhi Capitals (DC) snatched a 1-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam. Both PBKS and DC now hold 2 points each with decent NRRs and are in the third and fifth spots, respectively.
Mumbai Indians (MI), who entered the season as one of the favorites, suffered a 4-wicket defeat to arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Sunday. They now find themselves in seventh place with a negative NRR. CSK, on the other hand, are comfortably sitting in the fourth spot on the points table.
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and inaugural winners Rajasthan Royals are at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, both with heavy defeats denting their NRR significantly. LSG and GT are in sixth and eighth spots, respectively.
