Steve Smith held on to a stunning one-handed catch at first slip against the bowling of Nathan Lyon to help Australia claim the big wicket of opener KL Rahul on day four of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Brisbane on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old had dropped a fairly simple catch in the first ball of the day against the same batter when India was struggling at 51 for four. The catch helped Australia break the 67-run stand between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja and dismiss the dangerous Rahul for 84.
The break in partnership ensured that the host stayed on top in the third Test, putting pressure on the visitor, hoping to bundle them out twice and seal a win in the rain-marred encounter.
