Australia captain Alyssa Healy, who also captains Lucknow-based franchise UP Warriorz in the Women’s Premier League, will miss the 2025 edition of the league.
The keeper-batter has been plagued by a recurring foot injury which particularly flared up during the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and during India’s ODI tour Down Under last year.
The issues, arising from ruptures to her plantar fascia, took her out of action multiple times, including from the Women’s Big Bash League. When she returned, her load was lessened, with the wicketkeeping gloves handed to Beth Mooney.
After Australia completed a 16-0 thrashing of England in the multiformat Ashes series, Healy shared the grim news of stepping away from the field for a while.
“Unfortunately for me, I’ve got a couple of months feet up,” she said after the series win. “I’m pretty bummed by that, but at the same time elated to have a little bit of downtime and try and get my body right. But I’m looking forward to sticking my feet in an ice bucket.”
This puts her participation in the 2025 edition of the Women’s Premier League in doubt. Healy also revealed that she might be doubtful for Australia’s three-match T20I tour of New Zealand later in March.

“It’s been a really frustrating probably 18 months for me … you get yourself right, back playing, and something else goes wrong,” Healy said. “(I’m) going to have a look at a couple of things and how I can be better, maybe a bit more disciplined in some areas, and make sure I’m right to go in particular for that ODI World Cup
“It’s going to be a huge load coming off not a lot of cricket for a lot of the girls in the winter, so just managing things to get right for that.”
Healy will be the second high-profile withdrawal from the 2025 WPL after Sophie Devine announced her unavailability due to a break from the game.
