Rahmat Shah registered the highest individual score by an Afghanistan batter in Test history during the first Test against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on Saturday.
Rahmat registered the record when he reached the 203-run mark off 371 balls with a boundary, going past the previous highest score – an unbeaten 200 – by Hashmatullah Shahidi, which he had brought up against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
Rahmat also became only the second Afghan batter to score a double-hundred in the format. Interestingly, Shahidi was at the crease at the other end, unbeaten on 121, when Rahmat registered the record. The duo has put on 326 runs so far for the third wicket.
